Social Media Policy

In recent weeks there have been a number of concerns raised about the inappropriate use of social media by those involved with basketball and by some of the refereeing group.

We encourage participants to be actively involved with social media but ask that it be used in a constructive way. Referees are entitled to their own views and opinions but when it crosses the line in belittling, bullying or criticising the view of others in a way that would shine a negative light on the individual and refereeing group then this may lead to a breach of the social media policies.

Please think about what you post online and understand that no matter if it is in a public or private forum, keep in mind that all internet activity is stored indefinitely and is accessible to any user, who might take it out of context.

Please have a read of the FIBA Social Media Guidelines and the Basketball Victoria Social Media Policy.
